character limits increased?

Maybe I'm just dense, but hasn't the character limit on messages been increased from 4000 to 8000 in the last few days?

If I'm not just having a brain blast, and it's always been that way, thanks admins. The increased wordiness is appreciated.

Oh cool! I hadn't even noticed. Too bad I never even get close to the 4000 limit - well hardly ever.

Yes sorry, we probably should have announced this in the news file. That was an oversight on our behalf for which I apologize, in fact once I've posted this I'll even go and update the news file notifying people of the changes.

The character limit for the boards is now 8000 and not 4000 as was the case previously. We upped the limit with 'Writer's block' particularly in mind but it was just easier to up the limit for all boards instead of one or two.

Also people should be advised that there is now a 500 character limit on all quick notes being sent, either public or private. This is because some users were posting ludicrously long quick notes and some people were finding that irritating as quick notes, by definition, are supposed to be quick.
